Milwaukee Intermodal Station

Commercial: Transportation

Development Manangement Services

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation sought to redevelopment an aging and poorly maintained Amtrak station built in 1965 into a multimodal transportation hub through the establishment of the first public/private development partnership in state history. The redevelopment solution included adding a distinctive three-story glass galleria space to the front of the building creating an architectural centerpiece for downtown Milwaukee. The new facility serves as the "gateway" to Milwaukee by linking over 1.3 million passengers per year via Amtrak rail, Greyhound and other regional and local bus lines, county transit, taxis and other vehicles. The facility remained open throughout the 15 month construction process.
